The DataStream Plug-in is a (non visible) component to take care of fast and reliable transfer of binary data between a Servoy Client and Server.

With the DataStream Plug-in you can stream the data, that needs to be imported, direct into a specific record in your database.
Of course, you can also export the data by streaming to a location on the client file-system.
An additional set of functions will allow you to import and export data to and from the Servoy server file-system as well.

When importing and/or exporting large data loads the User Interface will block. In many cases this is undersirable. An important feature of the DataStream Plug-in is that it can prefent the User Interface from blocking. Should the User Interface block, alternatively, settings can be applied to specify that the transfers should block, forcing the user to wait until the transfer is complete.

Import and export without effect on the Servoy User Interface?
All connections to the back-end database are provided by the Servoy server itself. By doing so there is no risk of interfering with the update notifications that Servoy does by default.
Apart from the above, the streams in both directions are plain http streams. Requests to import and export are standardized SQL queries. Both are managed by the Plug-in.

Client feedback
If configured (optionally, no need to do so), the user can be confronted with a progress dialog.
The dialog can be shown with or without history:

• When large data loads are sent between the Client and Server (via RMI) most failures can occur due to out-of-memory conditions (on both sides).
• Streaming data between these 2 endpoints removes this risk since a small placeholder is re-used to the data. Therefore an out-of-memory condition is almost eliminated.

In short every solution that needs import and export of larger loads of data can benefit from the DataStream Plug-in.

When you start using one or more of our Plug-ins and Beans, Free or Commercial, you need to install them into your Servoy Application Server directory.

To avoid surprises and stress during (or after) the installation process we advise you to read the below instructions, watch the video's and import the sample solution.

Servoy 4 Eclipse
Installation of our Plug-ins and Beans is done by making use of the Eclipse Software Updater.
The Software Updater can be used to manually install but also to perform a scheduled update.

To make the installation and update process of our Plug-ins and Beans as easy as possible we have developed the Update Manager.
The Update Manager is also what you will actually download and install before you can really install a Plug-in or a Bean.

License Agreement
Use of our plug-ins and beans is always subject to our Terms and Conditions and License agreement that accompany the components.
The agreements may also be found here and here.
To use the Plug-ins and Beans you need a valid license (Trial license or otherwise).

Licenses for Servoy 3.x
New Customers:
If you have not already purchased an IT2BE Plug-in or Bean License,
go to the download section to download the Installer for the Update Manager.
Run the Installer and install the Update Manager in the Servoy directory of your choice.
Start Servoy Developer and navigate to 'Tools/IT2BE Update Manager'.
Check the "Update" checkbox for the IT2BE Plug-in(s) and/or Bean(s) of your choice.
Select the "Update" button and wait for the Component(s) to download.

Returning Customers:
If you have already purchased an IT2BE Plug-in or Bean License, go to the contact pages to apply for an IT2BE Trial License - doing so will prevent any conflict with existing IT2BE Component Licensing.

License jars:
For each component you will receive 2 license jars. These jars are loaded into the it2be-developer and it2be-runtime subfolders under the plugins folder of Servoy.
The ${product}-developer.jar license jar is there for your development environment. You are never allowed to deploy these license jars.
The ${product}-runtime.jar license jar is the jar you are allowed to deploy when your license grants you these rights.

License files:
When you receive a confirmation email it will include 2 files.
The .xml file is the file that contains your Developer License Key. You need to import into your Servoy Developer environment (see above instructions). You are never allowed to deploy your Developer License.
The .txt file contains a license string for each Component. The license string should be included in your Servoy Solution before you call the Component for the first time. Make sure that you prefix the string with the correct element name.

How to buy a license
After clicking the button of your selection you will be brought to the secure website of Share*it.
Here you can add the Component to your shopping cart and continue shopping or check out to do your payment.
After your payment you will receive a confirmation email and we will send you the license files as soon as possible. Normally within 2 working days.
